Usage
Vasotop (Ramipril) is a veterinary ACE inhibitor used to treat congestive heart failure in dogs. In some cases, veterinarians recommend use with diuretics or other agents. The goal of treatment with this drug is to improve cardiovascular function in dogs, thereby making the condition clinically viable and survivable. This is achieved by inhibiting ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme), causing systemic vasodilation (vasodilation) and reducing peripheral resistance.
Management
Vasotop (Ramipril) is available in 1.25mg and 2.5mg strength versions. If a veterinarian is diagnosing an animal with congestive heart failure, the appropriate tablet regimen should be determined.
